Terms and Conditions
1. Scope of Application
These General Terms and Conditions (GTC) apply to all legal relationships between Schönegg Zermatt AG, with the official company name SCHÖNEGG ZERMATT AG, and the GUEST. The scope of application also extends to any possible legal relationships between the guest and SCHÖNEGG ZERMATT AG, Riedweg 35, 3920 Zermatt, which acts as a marketing and sales company on behalf of SCHÖNEGG ZERMATT AG to broker or directly provide services.
2. Contract Conclusion
A contract between the GUEST and SCHÖNEGG ZERMATT AG is established upon receipt of the written, telephone, electronic, or personal booking and the delivery of the booking confirmation. These General Terms and Conditions are part of this contract. Communications by email are considered as written.
3. Data Processing & Privacy Policy
3.1 Data Collection & Processing
Your booking data is processed in compliance with Swiss and EU data protection regulations.
Data Processing by Bonfire AG & Zermatt Tourism
- Your booking data (e.g., title, name, date of birth, nationality, language, email, phone number, address, number of guests, arrival & departure dates, length of stay, visitor tax exemption status) is forwarded to Bonfire AG and Zermatt Tourism either directly by us or through our electronic booking system.
- Central Data Storage: Your data is stored in a central database managed by Bonfire AG and/or Zermatt Tourism to facilitate accommodation administration and reporting.
- Marketing & Communication: If you have provided consent, your guest data may be used by Salesforce for email communication between the accommodation provider and the guest.
- Processing Locations: Your data is processed exclusively within Switzerland and the EU to ensure compliance with applicable data protection laws.
3.2 Legal Basis & Data Usage
- Tourist Tax & Government Reporting: Zermatt Tourism handles the settlement of visitor taxes and submits statistical reports to the Swiss Federal Statistical Office.
- Access by Authorities: In specific cases, Bonfire AG and Zermatt Tourism grant police authorities access to booking data (e.g., in cases of missing persons).
- Statistical Analysis: Zermatt Tourism may analyze booking data for hotel occupancy, average length of stay, number of arrivals, and tourism statistics.
- Marketing Usage: Guest booking data is only used for direct marketing (e.g., newsletters and special offers) with the guest’s explicit consent.

4. Cancellation Conditions
Cancellations or rebookings are only valid if made in writing to the respective hotel and confirmed in writing by the hotel. The following deadlines apply:
4.1 Summer
- Up to 3 days before arrival: Free of charge
- 0 - 3 days before arrival: 100% of the package price
4.2 Winter (excluding Christmas and New Year)
- Up to 14 days before arrival: Free of charge
- 0 - 13 days before arrival: 100% of the package price
4.3 Christmas and New Year
- Up to 30 days before arrival: Free of charge
- 0 - 29 days before arrival: 100% of the package price
4.4 Groups (from 10 people)
Cancellation of the entire group
- Up to 28 days before arrival: Free of charge
- 21 - 27 days before arrival: 50% of the package price
- 0 - 20 days before arrival: 100% of the package price
Cancellation of individual rooms
- Up to 4 days before arrival: Free of charge
- 0 - 3 days before arrival: 100% of the package price
4.5 SPA Cancellations
- Cancellations are free of charge up to 12 hours before the appointment.
- If canceled less than 12 hours before the scheduled time, a 100% charge will apply.
5. Booking Conditions & Payment
- Prices are in Swiss Francs (CHF) and include VAT.
- Guests are obliged to pay for booked services, including additional expenses.
- Foreign currency prices are for reference only and will be charged at the applicable exchange rate on the day of payment.
- The hotel reserves the right to change prices due to exchange rate variations or increased government levies.
6. Use of Hotel Rooms
- The room must be used with care and may only be occupied by the stated number of guests.
- Smoking in the room is strictly prohibited – a cleaning fee of CHF 250.00 will apply.
- Dogs are welcome with a charge of CHF 40.00 per night. They are not allowed in the dining room or spa area.
7. Check-in & Check-out
- Check-in: From 3:00 PM
- Check-out: By 11:00 AM
- Late check-outs without prior agreement will incur an extra charge of CHF 100 per hour after 12:00 PM, and CHF 200 per hour after 4:00 PM.
8. Liability & Compensation
- The hotel is only liable for damages caused intentionally or through gross negligence.
- Claims must be made in writing within 3 days after departure, otherwise, they are considered forfeited.
9. Force Majeure
- The hotel is not responsible for disruptions due to political unrest, strikes, natural disasters, or government regulations.
- In such cases, guests will receive a voucher for the total amount paid.
10. Governing Law & Jurisdiction
- These Terms & Conditions are governed by Swiss law.
- Jurisdiction: Zermatt, Switzerland.
- The hotel reserves the right to update these terms at any time.
