Terms and Conditions
Scope of Application
These General Terms and Conditions (GTC) apply to all legal relationships between Schönegg Zermatt AG, with the official company name SCHÖNEGG ZERMATT AG, and the GUEST. The scope of application also extends to any possible legal relationships between the guest and SCHÖNEGG ZERMATT AG, Riedweg 35, 3920 Zermatt, which acts as a marketing and sales company on behalf of SCHÖNEGG ZERMATT AG to broker or directly provide services.
Contract Conclusion
A contract between the GUEST and SCHÖNEGG ZERMATT AG is established upon receipt of the written, telephone, electronic, or personal booking and the delivery of the booking confirmation. These General Terms and Conditions are part of this contract. Communications by email are considered as written.
Cancellation Conditions
Cancellations or rebookings are only valid if made in writing to the respective hotel and confirmed in writing by the hotel. The following deadlines apply:
Summer
- Up to 3 days before arrival: free of charge
- 0 - 3 days before arrival: 100% of the package price
Winter (excluding Christmas and New Year)
- Up to 14 days before arrival: free of charge
- 0 - 13 days before arrival: 100% of the package price
Christmas and New Year
- Up to 30 days before arrival: free of charge
- 0 - 29 days before arrival: 100% of the package price
Groups (from 10 people)
Cancellation of the entire group
- Up to 28 days before arrival: free of charge
- 21 - 27 days before arrival: 50% of the package price
- 0 - 20 days before arrival: 100% of the package price
Cancellation of individual rooms
- Up to 4 days before arrival: free of charge
- 0 - 3 days before arrival: 100% of the package price
A cancellation of the reservation requires the written approval of the hotel. If this is not given, the agreed price must be paid even if the guest does not use the contractual services. In the case of a no-show, the total stay will be charged. Early booking rates (Non-Refundable Rates) cannot be canceled free of charge. We recommend the guest take out cancellation insurance. For reservations via online portals (including simplebooking.it), the respective terms and conditions/cancellation policies of the provider apply. The provision of valid credit card details is required. If an invalid credit card is provided, we consider the booking not guaranteed, and the hotel may cancel the booked room.
Restaurant Cancellation Policy
If a confirmed restaurant reservation at Schönegg Zermatt AG is missed, we reserve the right to charge a no-show fee per person. For group reservations (from 10 people) at the Schönegg Zermatt AG restaurant, the following cancellation conditions apply:
- Up to 7 days before the reservation date: free of charge
- 4 – 6 days before the reservation date: CHF 20.00 per person
- 0 – 3 days before the reservation date: 100% of the total amount
The fees will be charged to the guest’s registered credit card.
Cancellation Date and Insurance
The cancellation date is calculated from the receipt of the written notice at the booking office. In cases of hardship, cancellation costs may be covered by cancellation insurance, provided the GUEST has taken out such insurance.
Substitution of a Replacement Person
If the booked package cannot be attended, SCHÖNEGG ZERMATT AG accepts a replacement person who will take over the existing booking under the same conditions. The replacement person must be announced to the hotel early (before arrival). The original GUEST remains the contract partner and is liable.
Cancellation of Multiple Rooms
If a reservation involves multiple rooms, the person responsible for all reservations is the one who has given their consent and confirmed the reservation with their credit card details.
Cancellation Due to Force Majeure
In the event of force majeure, such as political unrest, strikes, disasters, etc., SCHÖNEGG ZERMATT AG may cancel a booking for safety reasons at short notice. In such cases, the GUEST will receive a refund in the form of a voucher for the amount paid.
Disruptions and Operational Limitations
Disruptions, such as noise and/or operational limitations, do not entitle the guest to compensation or a refund.
Non-Refundable Rates and Prepaid Rates
If the guest chooses this special type of room reservation, the booking is only final once the payment has been fully received. These reservations cannot be canceled except in cases of force majeure. Should such an event occur, the guest will receive a voucher from SCHÖNEGG ZERMATT AG for the total value of the booked service.
Early Departure
If the guest departs early, the hotel is entitled to charge 100% of the booked services.
Booking Conditions
The prices communicated by the hotel are in Swiss Francs (CHF) and include VAT. The guest is obliged to pay the agreed or applicable prices of the hotel for room use and any additional services used. This also applies to orders placed by companions or visitors. Prices quoted in foreign currencies are for guidance and will be charged at the applicable exchange rate on the day of payment. The prices confirmed by the hotel apply. Prices may be changed by the hotel if the guest subsequently changes the number of rooms booked, the hotel’s services, or the duration of the guests’ stay.
For all bookings not made directly through a booking office of SCHÖNEGG ZERMATT AG, valid credit card details (at least valid until the planned check-out date) are required. The prerequisite for all bookings is generally the guest’s agreement to the terms and conditions outlined here, as well as the data protection terms explained in the privacy policy. If these terms are not met, SCHÖNEGG ZERMATT AG may cancel bookings without notification.
SCHÖNEGG ZERMATT AG reserves the right to declare a confirmed booking invalid in exceptional cases without incurring costs to the hotel. Valid reasons include:
- A required advance payment or security deposit is not made within the hotel’s set deadline.
- Force majeure, closure, or changes to business hours due to economic or legal reasons or other circumstances beyond the hotel’s control that make it objectively impossible to fulfill the contract.
- Rooms or spaces booked or used under misleading or false information, such as the identity of the guest or the purpose of the stay.
- The hotel has valid reasons to believe that the use of the agreed services may interfere with the smooth operation of the business, endanger the safety of other hotel guests, or damage the hotel’s reputation.
- The guest has become insolvent (bankruptcy or fruitless seizure) or has stopped payments.
- The purpose or reason for the stay is illegal.
In case of withdrawal by the hotel for the reasons mentioned above, the guest has no right to compensation, and payment for the booked services remains due.
Price Changes
Remain reserved for SCHÖNEGG ZERMATT AG in all cases. Possible reasons include:
- Clearly explainable printing or writing errors.
- Exchange rate changes.
- Newly introduced or increased government levies (such as VAT, visitor’s tax, etc.).
If the prices for the booked service change after the conclusion of the contract (for reasons other than those mentioned above), this is irrelevant to the concluded contract, regardless of how the price change has occurred.
Liability and Compensation
SCHÖNEGG ZERMATT AG is only liable for damages in cases of intent or gross negligence. Liability for personal belongings is excluded to the extent permitted by law. Claims must be made in writing to the hotel immediately, at the latest within 3 days after departure. Otherwise, the claims are considered forfeited.
Use of Hotel Rooms
The guest must use and treat the hotel room with the utmost care. The room may only be used or occupied by the number of people (including children) stated in the contract. The guest is not permitted to sublet the rented hotel room at SCHÖNEGG ZERMATT AG to third parties. The guest is liable for any damages unless they can prove that these damages occurred without their fault (or the fault of co-users). Damages must be reported to the hotel immediately.
Smoking in the Room
Is prohibited. If the guest smokes, we will charge at least CHF 250.00 for additional cleaning.
Dogs/Pets
Dogs are welcome at Schönegg Zermatt AG, as we assume your pet is well-behaved. SCHÖNEGG ZERMATT AG charges CHF 40.00 per night. Dogs are welcome at the bar, on the terrace, and in the room. Their presence is not allowed in the dining room. Furthermore, pets are not allowed in the hotel’s wellness area.
Check-in and Check-out
Unless otherwise expressly agreed, the earliest check-in time is from 2:00 p.m. on the day of arrival, and the latest check-out time is until 11:00 a.m. on the day of departure.
If the room is released later than the agreed time without arrangement, the hotel may charge CHF 100 per additional hour from 12:00 p.m. From 4:00 p.m., CHF 200 per hour. The hotel reserves the right to remove the guest’s belongings from the room and store them in an appropriate place in the hotel in case of late check-out without prior agreement.
